not my first food truck rodeo

One of my favorite Raleigh summer traditions is the Food Truck Rodeo downtown. Dozens of local food trucks gather on Fayetteville St, offering some of the best food in the Triangle. This is my second year attending so I thought I'd share what we loved from the event! There is another one August 7th from 4-9pm if you missed this one, and the last one for the year is October 9th from 1-6pm.

This year I attended with J and our good friends Devon and Rachel!

 AMERICAN MELTDOWN

Last year I had an amazing grilled cheese from here, so I made a beeline for it as soon as we arrived! Rachel and I split the Scarboro Fare, which had gouda and pesto with herbs. It was a hit, even better than the "Kaleing Me Softly" last year! There's a new American Meltdown outpost at Southpoint Mall if you are craving it! The herb pesto made the sandwich very refreshing and didn't feel too heavy with the cheese.

We stopped into Morning Times to eat because it was 94 degrees out and I grabbed  a hazelnut latte, highly recommended!

STUFT

J and I had seen this truck a few nights back at the 95X Block Party, but they were not offering vegetarian options. Today they had a few and J opted for the Cheddarella.

J was a little thrilled about it.

We all loved it and tried a little bit! I would recommend sharing because it is a heavy meal.  There were plenty of options for meat eaters too!!

PARLEZ-VOUS CRÊPE

Dev grabbed a raspberry and chocolate crêpe and we all loved it! I've had one of their savory Brie crepes in the past and highly enjoyed. A nice light meal or dessert!

BELGIAN WAFFLE CRAFTERS

One of my favorite NYC spots is Waffles and Dinges and I wanted to compare this Belgian waffle truck to the NYC staple. I got a Cinnawaffle a la mode. We all were in complete awe and had multiple bites. It was Devon's first time trying cookie butter and his reaction was priceless. If you're looking to recreate this, cookie butter is sold at Trader Joe's!

TWO ROOSTERS

 Blackberry Hibiscus & Lucky Charms

Blackberry Hibiscus & Lucky Charms

Last but not least, we stopped at Two Roosters Ice Cream. I had the Blackberry Hibiscus and Lucky Charms flavors at the 95X Block Party a few days ago, so Jordan was dying to go after having a taste. He and Dev both got coffee flavored ice cream by Slingshot, it was delicious. A good middle ground between sweet and bold coffee. Rach went to Gnam Gnam Gelato!
